Rejoice! Christ Will Help Us Carry Our Heavy Burdens
One reason Christ’s message still resonates is that it speaks to every soul. Who hasn’t known the feeling of carrying something too heavy—emotionally, spiritually, or physically?
“My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” — Matthew 11:30
This verse reminds us: Christ doesn’t hand us more weight—He helps carry it. So why keep shouldering what we’re not meant to bear? Let Him take the yoke. Let Him help. You were never meant to do it all alone.
Reflection Prompt:
What burdens are you carrying right now?
Take time this week to journal about burdens you carry. Be honest about those burdens you have carried for a long time. Have you felt at times as if you were enduring your troubles all alone? Re-read the passage from Matthew 11:30, and reflect on ways that your burden may be lifted through faith…
Zen Koan: Crossing the Stream

In the Zen koan “Crossing the Stream,” a monk carries a young woman to help her cross a river, only to be questioned later by his student, shocked that the monk touched a woman at all.
The master replies, “I left her on the other side of the stream. Why are you still carrying her?”
This teaching is simple but sharp: We carry things that burden us far longer than necessary—grudges, guilt, stories we tell ourselves. Let them go. Freedom lies in the release.
How short are Lives are!
“So few days do we have, and they pass like a shadow.” — Ecclesiastes 5:20
“You are not promised eternity.” — Proverbs 27:7
This year is one where I’ve experienced several losses of close friends and family members. Loss presses us to remember what matters: not material wealth, but our ability to love. It is a reminder to focus not on the time we have, but how we spend it.
So let’s live joyfully and not be consumed with just the beauty of life and all of its material things- but also our ability to love. It is our capacity to love that makes us unique and sets us apart. We can rejoice in our ability to love life & to love others as Christ taught us to do. We then accept the humanizing (& humbling) knowledge that life is fleeting! It is the greatest of gifts. This “Blue Dot of Earth’ is our gift from God.
This “Blue Dot” of Earth is a Miracle

Science tells us the Earth is a rare jewel in a cold, vast universe. A “Blue Dot” surrounded by lifeless planets.
There are many who cannot reconcile the fact that science tells us certain things about the nature of the Universe. Many believe scientific findings are contradicted in the Bible and we must only adhere to those true teachings which come from the Fundamental & Biblically approved Word of God. However, there are more ways that our faith can be reconciled with a scientific belief in a vast Universe.
We often hear that the tiny Earth is a unique place. Science tells us the Earth is a rare jewel in a cold, vast universe. We are a vivid “Blue Dot” surrounded by lifeless planets. We understand from science how rare & unique this Blue Dot of Earth truly is. For that knowledge alone-we should rejoice & be glad! And we should recognize just what a miraculous gift we have been given. We are unique inhabitants of this vast universe; and truly even more solid proof to the testament that we are all Children of God.
How Blessed we are!
It’s problematic that we are said to be ‘blessed’ in connection with the fact that we are rich & powerful or successful in business. It is worth noting that wealthy and successful people often tell us how ‘blessed they are….
Yet all of us are walking in the path that Christ walked. To walk that same path is to begin to understand what it really means to be blessed. When we walk in the path of Christ, we may begin to know him. His life was a deliberately & uniquely human one. And when we walk the path he walked, as humans on this blue dot called Earth, it tells us we all live a Blessed Life!
That is the greatest reason to count your days as Joyful ones. And we all find ourselves living our lives in the presence of the Lord…
Blessed are the poor in spirit. Blessed are the meek. Blessed are the peacemakers.
Being blessed isn’t about having more—it’s about knowing God, walking with Him, and loving others well.
What Christ Does for Us
Christ doesn’t just carry our burdens. He sends people to walk with us—to comfort, support, and love us when we need it most.
“Who is my neighbor?” — Luke 10:29
(I would refer all to the Parable of the Good Samaritan.)
You are someone’s answer to prayer. When others suffer, Christ calls you to be their comfort. Love is not a concept—it’s a call to action!
Final Thought: Rejoice, Today

Don’t wait for tomorrow to live. Rejoice today. Love today. Trust today.
This month, let’s hold fast to what matters:
- Trust in God’s promises.
- Release what weighs us down.
- Love others as Christ loved us.
And give thanks for the gift of this life on this miraculous, blue dot we call home.
